This statement (300 words or less) could include qualifications, convictions, thoughts on issues, concerns, etc.

We are in an exciting season of change in The United Methodist Church. Despite the angst and division, I join many others in believing that God is doing a new thing among the people called Methodist.

It is my belief that we’re all being called in new ways to find new solutions to the conflicts that exist among us. As such, I am a strong advocate that we consider creative ways to reorganize and restructure our denomination so people of conscience can love, serve, and lead in the ways they feel God calling them to do so. The time has passed for plans that divide us into warring camps — it’s time to look for new solutions to reshape The United Methodist Church if we are to be faithful to our mission to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” I believe creating multiple paths in our church for people of faith to follow is the way forward.

As one of your delegates, I will commit myself to seeing that these diverging paths pave a way where all, from progressives to centrists to traditionalists, can follow Christ and serve the church with integrity.

I am born and raised in South Georgia. And I love this conference. South Georgia has nurtured my faith journey and given me space where God could call me into a life of professional ministry. While the next few years will bring change, some of which will lead many in different directions, I am hopeful that God is leading us and that we can hold our convictions with integrity, disagree in love and humility, and make decisions together that will reshape our church for generations to come. I would be honored to be one of your delegates to share in this work.
