Statement

This statement (300 words or less) could include qualifications, convictions, thoughts on issues, concerns, etc.

I have been a part of the South Georgia Annual Conference my entire life. From growing up as a PK to serving in pastoral ministry since I was 21 (now 36), I believe I know the people and the churches in our conference. I believe I would represent them well at General Conference 2020.

Due to the events before, during, and after General Conference 2019, it has become very clear that an amicable separation is needed in our denomination. While I am a conservative Wesleyan and thankful our denomination upheld a traditional view of marriage and ordination, it was painful to watch the division in our church on display for all to see. It was not a good witness of Jesus to the world.

It is my prayer that 2020 will see representatives from both sides come together to find a way forward even if that means going our own way; even if that means creating something new. Something new does not scare me. It excites me!

Because of the enormous potential of General Conference 2020, I am passionate about having a young(ish) adult presence in our delegation. I have 30+ years of ministry ahead of me. I, along with many of my colleagues, will be the ones living into the decisions made at General Conference.

I appreciate the experience and wisdom of our previous delegations, more than can be expressed in 300 words. I would be honored to learn from them if I was given the opportunity to serve our conference in this capacity. I hope to bring the voice and viewpoint of a younger generation to our delegation as we dream and plan for a new and fresh Wesleyan movement.

Thank you for your consideration.
