Statement

This statement (300 words or less) could include qualifications, convictions, thoughts on issues, concerns, etc.

South Georgia ministry friends, I’d like the chance to represent you at GC2020.

What do we need going forward?

SPIRITUAL VITALITY

On the questions of marriage and sexuality, I believe our UMC accurately presents the gracious teaching of Scripture and the consensus of the Church universal. The recent years of debate offer us the gift of clarity—most of us know what we believe on this subject. So it’s time to move ahead, trust God, and allow the birth of new Methodist movements, both to avoid harm and to release energy for the ministry of the Gospel.

LOCAL FOCUS

I have a record of effectiveness and collegial leadership in local churches small and large, on a UM college campus, and with the Northwest DCOM and Conference BOM. I believe the work you do in your church making disciples of Jesus Christ and the work we do in our Conference equipping and connecting ministry leaders must be our top priorities.

GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP

Over four years in Kazakhstan, I lived a ministry partnership with the world church based on earned trust, mutual respect, and shared Gospel convictions. I can offer that experience as our UMC embraces a global future, where Americans will no longer be the majority. We may have the funding, but in many cases, they have fruitfulness and fearlessness we would do well to learn.
